Broker's Comments
The last Oyster Lightwave was moulded in 1995, and this is that boat. The hull and deck were left in the mould after production ceased. The current owner found out about the this one and struck a deal with Oyster to acquire it. He then spent 8 years completing her using an Oyster foundry keel, rudder and Oyster designed Z Spars rig. He also made some engineering improvements to stiffen the boat (they had a reputation for being a bit flexi) and fitted her out using his own engineering firm. Oyster themselves were impressed with the finished result and recognise her on the Oyster register. His fit out departed from standard so as to make her a comfortable cruising boat (albeit still quick!) as well as geared for short handed sailing. So on the one hand, she is a departure from standard, but on the other, a finished boat better suited to cruising.
Double cabins fore and aft with en-suite heads, a tasteful, cosy but well lit saloon, good galley and navigation station - she has it all. If she were to be mine I would add a sprayhood and dodgers for the week or two that it would take me to prepare her for the Med - or just add bimini and go!
UPDATE: June 2015 Underwater shots added. Yacht now stored ashore tfn.
